Boradband Service

Hi Guys
Other than streamyx is there any good broadband service in Palma ? Is there any P1 Wimax users out there ? can you share your expeience.

I think Streamyx still rule in this area. No doubt, there's a current hype about P1 Wimax that seems to exhibit superior performance than streamyx and some other wireless broadband service provider.

I was initially subscribed to Maxis Broadband services and was very impressed with the speed of connection. That was during the initial launch of the services and everything is so great. However, after a while when more and more people jumping into the wireless broadband bandwagon, the speed deteriorate. Maxis Broadband used to be able to support multiple live video feed from a single login account. Currently, I doubt it's even good for live video feed for a single PC terminal.

I don't have so much problem with Streamyx and only encounter occasional technical glitches which is quite irregular and forgivable.

Fixed line type of broadband will still rule in this century. Wireless still subject to many type of interference and bandwidth constrain.

I've recently tried on celcom wireless broadband for a month. Speed wasnt that good. Speed as stated could go up to 384kbps, but i only manage to get about 150kbps in my house. Tried walking around palma , found that near the foundtain only manage to get slightly higher 170kbps.

Streamyx still the better option currently.Just that encounter frequent disconnection but reconnection is instant with the help of router. Else maybe around KU area could come up with our own private fibre optic connection? haha.

If you encounter frequent disconnection, it has high probability the router is bad. I had the same problem in the past but after changing the wireless router the problems seem to be gone.
