Post  wealthraider Mon Aug 03, 2009 12:09 pm

After a short local travel and restless weekend, wealthraider is now down with sore throat and fever. This is going to be my very first time after 8 years popping anti-biotic and pain killer pills just to suppress the fever and the pain for my tonsillitis. This is the price to pay for seafood overdose especially the deep fried calamari. Deep fried calamari is distinctively tasty when served with beer. Having to be in Labuan for two days creates irresistible temptation for over drinking and seafood feasting. Wealthraider is consider one of the victims who fell for the lure of food and beer. Having to be a none believer of western medicine, popping pills is something I would do for last resort. I normally could get by my fever by drinking plenty of water, eating only vegetables and fruit and having a good night sleep. After consulting a doctor and knowing the tonsillitis is quite serious, there won't be much options other than staying home for next two days.

Thinking back what has had happened last week, wealthraider should be grateful for not suffering any symptoms of alcohol intoxication. Attending the drinking session with RA committee member is a sequel to the drinking spree in Labuan. The thought of drinking root beer did cross my mind but due to the fact of not letting down my beloved neighbors and committee members, I resorted to drinking beer again. During my tenancy at Bayu, I couldn't recall I got any chance of siting down with a group of neighbors drinking beer in a pub. There were some open houses party which I have attended merely out of respect and following the appropriate protocol as a neighbor.

Residing in Palma does offer me a chance to broaden my social circle other than my business networks and associates. From neighbor becomes good friend and fellowship are really a treasure which I couldn't find in some other place. Palma is a place where I could hop from house to house drinking tea or beer with friends. The committee members have recently initiated a weekly drinking session at the Gazebo area near the basketball court. Please do not be alarmed when you see a bunch of drunken in the park. They are merely overjoy after drinking a little bit too much of beer. "Beer is a proof that god loves us and wants us to be HAPPY."

The drinking session is normally started at 10pm onward. If you have nothing better to do at home and have past the 18 years old legal drinking age or with parental consent, please do feel free to join us. Beer will not be provided and you are suppose to bring your own beer and food. We provide free companionship.

I know beer is what you want to talk about...I have no idea why beer taste nice where it appears to me as bitter and throat burning...haha Laughing
Well, I can talk about sore throat since I am quite experienced with it.
I never have sore throat problem in my younger days (but have asthma larr Evil or Very Mad But due to the over confident in my health condition, I have over limit of eating chili padi, sambal, curry, etc. This has resulted recurring sore throat in 2008 lasting about 9 months. Basically all the antibiotic does not work on me and I will have sore throat again 2 days after the end of antibiotic course.
Later I heard that Chinese medicine cured sore throat and sinus of my collegues (several of them). I tried and it tasted like shit water...(I can't help but must say this....) Make me feel giddy all the time and nausea (wealthraider, you may want to try this so that you understand the pregnancy process of your wife) and gave up after being tortured for 6 weeks.
Then my aunt was telling me that bird's nest does help. I have never believe in bird's nest in my entire life as I felt it is costly, unhygiene (saliva of bird?) and afterall it is just protein (take milk better larr). But believe me, I didn't go for doctor due to sore throat in the last 6 mths. Wah...am so glad that I've finally find something that eatable and can overcome this irritating sore throat. Try it out!!

Hi Cathlhg and whoever still reading this forum,

Thanks for sharing good advices on sore throats and I think some of our committee members could use your advices on Chinese medicine after so many rounds of endless discussion on issues. Do you have any medicine or recipes for keeping people all time motivated for contributing in community work? "Invisible Man" was a big hits few years back and subsequent sequels have been produced just to capture the wave of "Invisible fever". Of late, we have also observed that many committee members somehow have discover the recipe to become invisible and didn't turn up for meetings. We understood some people are busy and tied down with works and they have been proactively informing the President about their foreseeable absenteeism for the upcoming meeting. We appreciate their due respect to the committee and this is the attitude we treasure. There are only a small minority of members that we could see need improvement. I personally not very sure whether this "Invisible fever" is airborne and contagious or it is a home made recipe that you need administer to your blood stream through intravenous injection. The symptoms need to be addressed and we need some god given gift to rid of the symptoms.

We have hosted an appreciation dinner for our President Toh last week and the attendance was very satisfactory. I had a great lost for not attended the event owing to my engagement with a Labuan trip. We were trying to understand the main attributes for the good attendance. One key fact we couldn't deny is the good leadership from President Toh and drawn the crowds. Some other factors that I tend to speculate is the beer and women. The beer is definitely good and I could see how the bill skyrocketed. The beer is undeniably taste better with the present of some foxy lady. I didn't know about the foxy lady till I overheard the conversation from some committee members last night.

Anyway, beer and women go together quite well and now you know how a man's mind work. No matter how bitter the beer is when you are thinking of and looking at the foxy lady, we can drink and mentally projecting women. Smile

I am getting better after good amount of rest with my new found recipe. You could probably consider trying it if you have sore throat.
